Today I live
Today I will pray

In the round house of my Mother
In the house made of dawn

As I open my Hogan door
In the direction of the east

The new dawn is here
I give my prayers of honor & humbleness

To the early dawn spirits
As they capture my prayers

To the Dine universe above
They lay my prayers at Creator's feet

Let the healing dawn touch my illness
Touch me inside

Give me the healing breath
As my sacred prayers flow in the wind

To be capture by you Creator
At the highest point

Capture by your natural law
It becomes my way of life

It is the divine way of living
Just as my ceremonies are integral parts of my daily routine

I will rise at dawn and offer prayers and corn pollen
To the spirits in return for clear thoughts and guidance

To live in accordance with Creator's traditional law
As my ancestors have passed it down from time immemorial

For today I live
Today I will pray

You (rebelyell08) write "this is lovely" and I agree for the beauty of the poetic form. That's very well written sure !

But I can't use the word "lovely" because of the the feelings which come inside my mind when I read Nightchant. Deep trubble and pain can lead to beautiful poems but I'm unable to avoid the pain which goes with...
The sadness such journey of life makes me feel not allow me to simply congratulate for the style !

Anyway, I hear ya Zoupi but somehow,hon, the image of the brooding, consumed in a tortured soul Native man lamenting over a keyboard 24/7 just dosen't jive in my thinking of the man. There has to be a lighter, maybe (somewhat?) softer, for lack of a better word, side anyway. Thats what I was referring to when I said "lovely" about the words,the sentiment about the prayers . I don't know. And I could be entirely wrong here. Just a guess based on just being human and knowing a few of them here and there.
